Here's how it all began...

In 2013, we cleared out our closets, packed up our bags and swapped houses with some friends who live in Laie, HI. When we say "swapped houses" we literally mean "swapped houses". We drove each other's cars, slept in each other's beds, paid each other's utility bills and spent time with each other's friends. We enrolled our kids in Laie Elementary and fully embraced the aloha spirit of Hawaii.

One of our neighbors there had a shave ice business out of their garage.  We would look for the big red "OPEN" sign every day and would buy shave ice any opportunity we got. It was delicious!

About a year after we got home we decided that we missed Hawaiian shave ice dearly. At the same time, we were looking for a way for our children to learn the ins and outs of starting up and running a business, as well as learn the value of hard work. Not to mention authentic Hawaiian shave doesn't exist in northern VA. So was the birth of North Shore Shave Ice.

We are now fully up and running, travelling all around northern VA helping others enjoy the ice and seeing people smile all the while. That's what we love most about North Shore--it's a happy product that we all love to eat ourselves!
